KENNETH MOSES OGUNGBEMI

KENNETH MOSES OGUNGBEMI, was one of the Director of Ben Oguns & Sons Ltd, Director of

Kenneth Art Gallery, the 2nd of first twin’s sons of Gabriel Bamidele Ogungbemi, the native of

Ilupeju Ekiti that lives on osogbo osun State in Nigeria.

Kenneth was born at Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria western state of Nigeria from a family of

artists. His family was rich in art and cultural spirit. He completed his academic education

through High School, vocational programs, Technical school of Arts and Government National

Apprenticeship Scheme.

Due the long hardship situations and for future purposes, he was trained and educated

throughout his life. Because of the situation of the country during his childhood and

adulthood, he learned much-skilled labor, specializing in many areas of painting like house

painting, signwriting, spraying, portrait, rubber stamp, van display, and screen printing. These

skills and personal efforts help him to live with his family until now.

Because of hard times in Nigeria, it was not easy to live as an artist by itself, so with the

the experience acquired in screen printing and batik, Kenneth lunch his own printing boutique

and he was patronized by the ministry of arts and culture and Tourism by the help of

the Commissioner of Commerce and Tourism, Mr. Adeleke and then introduce me to his

Royal Highness, OBA ADEYEMI ADEDIRAN THE OWA OMIRAN OF ESA-OKE LAND. Osun State

Nigeria. He was invited to participate in all the art exhibitions and trade fairs organized by the

Osun state government in all Nigeria both nationally and internationally since

1990 and later recommended and nominated as the president of NYTO, Nigerian Youth

Tourist Organization Osun state. With hard work, he has the opportunity of showing his work

internationally by friends who take along his work for shows outside Nigeria, like Mr. Adeleke

himself and many others interested in his paintings and printings boutique and batik. His

printings interest many buyers from outside and inside Nigeria to the point of recommending

more sales outside than inside Nigeria. And one of the buyers, collectors, and exhibitors of his

work is Mrs. FOSTER, the chairman and president of Ogun state Tourism Board who regularly

commissions his work of arts for exhibition outside Nigeria and launch his work to the

world even before Kenneth has become known.

Hard life made him a creative person, he had the opportunity to go outside the country to

show his work but the situation was not as expected and later come back home. In the middle

of 1990`s, the ´´ King´´ OBA ADEYEMI ADEDIRAN, THE OWA OMIRAN OF ESA-OKE

LAND introduce him to the student group of theater at the University of IBADAN where he

participated in the theater group and was invited to participate in world tour, unfortunately

after some years they have had to stop because of lack of sponsorship. During the programs,

Kenneth participated as a theater artist and he was responsible for all the cover painting, the

background paintings and all the painting used for the group.

All throughout, his attention was to improve his artistic potentials with the help of his parents,

the lovers of his work of arts, also support from his art collector from the Brazilian General

Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria, Mr. MARCIO EDWARD, Kenneth was finally in Brazil, South

America, where he learns different ways of arts, expertly what his art teacher told him that

traveling is parts of education. Has the opportunity of meeting various and famous artists, first

was Old Artist Mr. ALAOR SALVIANO BUENO in his almost 80yrs which invited Kenneth to come

back to Brazil to teach arts in his school of Arts then and later open a gallery of Art together

with Kenneth and other co-artists. The name of the Art Gallery was Cores Arte Gallery,

Itaquera district, Sao Paulo city, Brazil and later introduced to the city of Suzano, where he was

introduced to the owner and professor of arts, Mr. GILBERTO MATTOS who also gave

KENNETH the opportunity of given art classes because of African arts that’s different from

Brazilian arts. It was also given him the opportunity of entries in City of Suzano for permanent

exhibition and promotion of arts till nowadays. One other very important experience given to

Kenneth by Mr. ALAOR, is presenting Kenneth to his old friend, a famous and re-known Artist

of repute in person. MR. TAO SIGULDA and his wife TELMA, the owner and curator of TAO

SIGULDA CENTRO CULTURAL located in Jarinu city, Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Tao Sigulda was part

of Picasso Group and meet in person with Picasso himself a few years later. It was an

opportunity and a good experience for KENNETH to acquire knowledge from masters of arts.

KENNETH had the opportunity of showing his work of art with Tao Sigulda, Mr. Alaor and many

re-known artists, he was so happy for his work of art to the point of naming Kenneth as an

African Picasso in front of all artist present because of his work. In the early year 2000,

KENNETH had a permanent exhibition at the Centro Cultural of Tao Sigulda. His works is also

exhibited at the Pinacoteca de São Bernardo do Campo city in Sao Paulo state, Brazil.  The

knowledge acquired not only allow a rapid evolution but also help in developing his talent in

painting and creativity.

In Brazil, he developed himself and do many more types of research as an artist and to support

his art life as a painter with courses in house decoration, ingress in courses of house painting in

relation to the courses had in Nigeria on house painting since painting in Nigeria was different

from Brazil. Learn how to do house finishing painting such as a technical course in Painting and

Decoration, many courses in House painting, in Textures, Drywall finishing, Decorations,

marmory followed by stucco, knockdown, and popcorn, uses of airless sprayers and any air

compressor, experience in construction works and a lot of awards on painting and decoration

with certification.

During school holidays with an Artists friend Jorge Soliano, he gives art workshop in paradise

golf hotel locates in Mogi das Cruzes city, in Sao Paulo state. Discovering Brazilian colors opens

his new perspectives of creativity, an avalanche of new ideas resulted in increasing work and

new commissions, on each house painting and decoration finished in Brazil is Kenneth´s work

of arts both on canvas and on the walls including his signatures. Was also invited to give arts

workshop with Mr. Alaor in schools in Brazil. KENNETH was partners for the years in promoting

art shows, conference, cultural exchange and in receiving Traditional Rulers from Africa to

Brazil in international cultural exchange till presents.

In addition, at this time, his paintings are already and were parts of important collections in

Europe, Asia, Canada, United State of America and Brazil and plans to have his own Gallery of

arts in Canada is underway and will be given a workshop in upcoming Campti Field with Campti

Historic Museum in Ruston, Louisiana USA in the 2 weeks’ youth agripreneurship summer class

culminating with Art & amp; Agriculture festival on June 10th to 22, 2019 in Louisiana USA.
